What are the negative effects of dental implants?

There are risks associated with dental implants, as there are with any surgical procedure. Despite a high success rate, there is a slight chance of implant failure, typically within the first 1-2 months of implant placement. Aside from that, patients will need to be extra diligent in cleaning around the implant. We recommend that patients use a Waterpik, toothbrush and floss to ensure that the gums around the implant and the implant crown remain as clean as possible.
